Our latest Impact Report

We’re really pleased to share our latest Impact Report with you. People experiencing homelessness are some of the most marginalised and vulnerable individuals in our society, and today, many of them are facing intensely challenging circumstances, the intensity and complexity of which haven’t been seen in their lifetime.

In 2020, the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic prompted the government to take extraordinary action to provide safe emergency accommodation for everyone in the UK. However, across the UK, many people experiencing homelessness have struggled immensely over the past three years. The chaos and uncertainty of the pandemic, combined with the rising cost of living crisis now engulfing the country, have caused a decline in their mental health. An increasing proportion of people accessing our services are dealing with significant mental health issues, and more people are grappling with substance and alcohol use.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the level of Local Authority funding has significantly decreased, and we expect it to further reduce over the next 18 months. This is happening during what can only be described as a housing crisis in Luton, with 1 in 65 people in Luton allocated homeless status, and at the national level, 1 in 100 children are in unsecure or temporary accommodation.
