100x10 campaign

Help us raise much-needed funds to combat the rise in living costs

Across the UK, households are seeing a huge hike in the costs of living; gas, electricity, and food are just some of the areas that are experiencing rising costs. Despite reducing our gas and electricity usage at home, my family of four has seen a 50% rise in our quarterly bill, and I know we’re not alone.

As a housing provider, Signposts is also experiencing the impact of these prices. With 11 properties housing 162 clients, we’re trying hard to reduce our gas and electricity usage but it’s not easy. In addition to this, we have experienced a 20% cut in our statutory funding and no inflationary increase, meaning in real terms a 31% reduction this year.

We’re not alone in this plight - it’s the same for many charities, as is the fact that the need for our services is growing. A recent report* by Shelter states that its national emergency helpline is seeing seven in ten calls to the charity stating that the cost of living crisis is making their situation worse. The report goes on to say that they are currently seeing 1,000 calls a day for housing and homelessness-related needs.

At a local level, our admissions team are seeing increases too. This month saw 90 referrals (an increase of 30 from December, which is on average the busiest month) come through seeking housing support, compared to normal monthly referral stats. As the cost of living rises, the need for our support increases and therefore, we are launching 100x10.

100x10 seeks to raise much-needed funds to help us combat the rise in living costs. We can’t just transfer these increased costs to our service users as they simply don’t have the funds to cover them. 100x10 is looking to find 100 people who will commit to donating £10 a month for 12 months to help us navigate the financial challenges we are currently experiencing.

As of the time of writing this we have already had one person sign up, one of amazing staff members.
